COMMUNITY PLANT SWAP & LIFESTYLE OBJECTS, ACTIVE SPACE, 2012
In conjunction with Bushwick Open Studios, I hosted a plant swap and a curated project “Lifestyle Objects” next door to my own studio.
The curated project was a collection of objects that artists had created for their home, for their children, for barter in the marketplace, or for a collaborative activity. These “lifestyle” objects were outside of the “official” contemporary art world, but were instances of artists extending their professional practice into everyday life.
The Plant Swap was inspired by the idea that it is good luck to share plant cuttings. For my offering to the plant swap, I recruited cuttings from plants that grew from cuttings I had given away in the past.
